Accredited U.S. schools

What is an .accredited U.S. college or university? (ie. Undergraduate schools)
Does someone have a list of these schools?
Are there any non-American schools that have U.S. "accreditation"?

wow.. so my school, which is probably the 5th or 6th largest university in Canada, is not U.S. accredited and therefore my application to UCLA is going to be thrown in the trash. Awesome!

But I see these small colleges in Canada are accredited.. that's just wrong. None of the big schools are accredited...

That list seems wrong, those are all religious colleges or the theology department of larger schools.

so if it is not on the nonaccredited list, is it therefore accredited?
