I am new to the medical school realm because i spent the past 4 years studying econ and getting ready for the business world. I did some research and i understand that med schools need a couple things for application, and 2 things among the list is an accumulative GPA, and a science GPA.

Is the accum GPA only for undergrad? Or is it including EVERYTHING including coursework that you took at a community college in order to fulfill the prereq courses? For example:// Someone have a B.A. in Econ with a GPA of 3.0 they have no science classes so they go back to comm college or some sort of program and take the required Bio, physics, chem, 0-chem classes and get a 4.0 in all of them. Is the Accumulative GPA both the undergraduate GPA + the additional science courses or is it JUST the accumulative GPA listed in the undergrad transcript?

And I am guessing science GPA is only taking into consideration the science courses that they require (I.E. the ones taken at a community college)

Which is weighted higher for application? 🙂

cumulative GPA is everything, all college coursework whether it was towards a degree or not. science GPA is anything in math, bio, chem, or physics, again, whether or not it was towards a degree. not sure which one is weighted more.

Great explanations.👍
