i'm getting 51.12 w/ pgy1 under my belt and bcps and almost 2 year work experience expected to get 52.12 starting November this year, expected to take in 110-112k from FT and about 8-9k from PRN position at another hospital. position is full clinical, with staffing 3-5 days/month and one weekend a month. same position last year took short of 135k, mostly cause i worked PRN a lot more. FT approx 41-42/week and usually 2 days/month at PRN job if position is open. i live in a large metropolitan city. work hr is usually 9-530/6 depending on when i want to leave.
my gf was offered 115k in same city for large chain, she took 50/hr +3/hr differential for late evening shift usualyl 2-1030pm.
real talk, lets try to help each other with real information and not bs trolls

I have ALWAYS said - financial literacy should be a requirement to graduate HS - so many people do NOT understand our tax system (I have this same conversation every couple of months when people tell me (both techs, RPh's, RN's) that OT is not worth it because they get taxed at 50%. ugh.
Also - how many people don't understand basic investing, retirement plans, etc.
We implemented a HSA option a couple of years ago - I had to explain it to most of our RPh's - hell last month I got in a "fight" debating how crappy whole life insurance is compared to term life - I did the math for him and he still doesn't believe me.
Also- for poops and giggles - how many people here know the rule of 72 with interest? (helps to have a grandpa as a banker to teach me)
oh well -
to answer the OP
I make $60.50 an hour with shift diff of 12% for second, %10 for weekend.
Work at a medium size hospital in a decent size city in the SE.
13 years experience.
My first job was $42 an hour in retial

Google and most "salary" websites say the ''avg salary'' in my area is 110k per year. However the actual pharmacist salaries of real pharmacists is much higher.
CVS/Walgreens RPh's actually are at 140-150k. And those who seek other jobs in various settings say the hospital jobs are about 125k at the least. (in my area)
Are pharmacists getting paid more nationwide? Whats the real trend?
My area Walmart is starting people off at $58 an hour and this is for ga and sc. Walgreens and cvs have been between 54-58 depending on what city/town. Tad higher if more rural or hard to staff area.
I personally started off at Walgreens At 120k. I currently make around 110 a year after call pay at a va job.
Is there a cut off for retail pharmacist pay? My family friend is making $60/hour and has gotten $1 raise each year for last 2 years and a small bonus. After a while eventually do they say you hit their max or does it keep increasing so in 20 years, he will make $75/hour or so with inflation and raises every year or every few years....
Also, why did the salary go from $36/hour in 2001 to $60+ in 2016.....why did the market suddenly start paying pharmacists 120K+....was it the same 15-20 years ago? I mean retail pharmacy does the same thing now except now does immunizations and more counseling in the past 5-10 years or so

I already make mid 70's and i've only graduated a couple years ago. It's just by how much of an asset are you to your district and company. Want to clock in and out thats fine but you'll be paid like it.Is there a cut off for retail pharmacist pay? Nah, it's more like how sh1tty and BFE your store is. The sh1tty and rural, the higher the pay. Don't think for a second it's your ability that they pay you 75/hr they think you are an asset. DM doesn't even have much control over pay. They have ranges set by corporate based on volume and desirability of the area.I already make mid 70's and i've only graduated a couple years ago. OT is rare? I worked as a tech. It was pretty rare if there wasn't at least one location that was short a floater or just needed help. The overnighters could practically work their whole week off if they wanted to. and I haven't said anything untruthful.
This is simple business 101 stuff dude.
There are only 3 ways to increase profit:
1. increase your volume
2. increase profit margin
3. decrease payroll
Why on earth would any company spend (hourly rate + X) to have someone work overtime when they have floaters who will work?
Of course it's rare.
So they just pay people over 75/hr just to keep a store open? Lol DM has control. To get a raise the DM initiates it and makes a case to HRBP hence why the hell am I paying anyone over $75 that can't keep **** out of red, horrible customer service and metrics down the drain. The better the high volume store is the more $$$ they make which makes you an asset. If you can run high volume stores well as manager you'll get paid really well no matter where you are at. I don't work in ****ty areas and I get paid what I do.Nah, it's more like how sh1tty and BFE your store is. The sh1tty and rural, the higher the pay. Your comment on ability is hilarious as well considering I'm probably the highest paid in my district and have barely been around 2 years but oh it's based on where you live and volume lol I work like a dog and a lot harder than I should but it's to keep getting raises from store to store.
Yep, a new pic was offered 79 at 2k/w stores, nothing to do with what you can do lol. It was just a BFE store. No one wants the sh1tty store. Some of the San Diego stores PIC making 73 doing 4k/w, won't get anywhere to 79 since it's SD.So they just pay people over 75/hr just to keep a store open? Lol DM has control. I just recently turned down 75/hr again to be at BFE store as pic lol, don't need to be one, I have enough (1.5M nw, with over 1M in investable assets).... So keep fooling yourself it's your God given ability to get a high pay lol. Look around you, check the public school rating, amenities, coastal cities? Tons of great restaurants? I bet you are no where close to these.

Wait so if you are making $60/hour in a big city in the Midwest----after 5-10-20 years, you will be making $70-80 a hour based on yearly raises/inflation and sometimes no raise....
I don't think it's fair to pay a new grad $70 a hour and the experienced pharmacist for 20 years has reached $65/hour but started lower at $53/hour....
Obviously if you work hard, pick up OT (Walmart in Midwest pays same rate as your job rate nothing more) then you can rack up a lot like 10-25K doing OT and bonuses/raises ... I don't think it matters if your an asset or anything like that...Walmart does give you raises/bonuses based on financial goal minimums and customer service/profit scores...sure they will value a hardworking PIC but financially not really at least in Midwest big cities

Is WG doing 75 on arizona side of stateline too or only Calif??
Yes, wag, wmt, riteaid border PIC makes at least +$5/hr vs. PIC in Metro areas. Think of Yuma, Parker, Needles, Blythe, etcIs WG doing 75 on arizona side of stateline too or only Calif??
I am being low-balled in Metro area.
All 3 chain and Walmart pays sh1t in CA metro area. You want to make $10 more than 62-65/hr, go to BFE.I am being low-balled in Metro area.

Whats the BFE? I'm assuming it's a rural area
A real sh1t hole town with bad public school/hospital, normally defined as a 3.5-4h drive (NOT "just" 2 hrs) to SF, LA or SD.Whats the BFE? I'm assuming it's a rural area
Is that like Bakersfield?
Is that like Bakersfield?
Fresno and Bakersfield don't count as BFE. Alturas, Eureka, and Bishop do.
bum f&^% Egypt - slang for the middle of nowhere - not sure what the origins areWhats the BFE? I'm assuming it's a rural area
I was offered $58 an hour for a clinical specialist position (they said it was the higher they could hire somebody into that position at) - My guess a manager job is 10-20% moreAnyone know what the salary range is for an inpatient manager in the SE (particularly Florida)?
A troll? th
Someone has already stated they made 175k in a year. And no, I'm not at the mexican border but I do believe if you work at CVS or Walgreens theres not way in hell in 2016 anyone is getting 90k.
It was 175k working 50 hrs a week. My offer with cvs when I graduated was 90k but it was based on 30hrs per week floating. I made more because I worked more than just 30hrs per week.

You must be working in California?
About 63/hr with 10h OT/week will get you 175k.It was 175k working 50 hrs a week. My offer with cvs when I graduated was 90k but it was based on 30hrs per week floating. I made more because I worked more than just 30hrs per week.
what area are they paying that much per hour, may i ask?
It depends on the base hours, where you work and years of experience.
At 2080 hours I would find it very hard to believe any recent grad pharmacist is making 150k a year in chain retail in the NE (maybe except rural Maine?) especially if they are starting off at ~110k. 150k for new grads seems more plausible in the southwest (Texas border not including El Paso) and some parts of California, among others.
In my current area and company new or recent grads are at 62-66 per hour.

where do they pay 63/hour?About 63/hr with 10h OT/week will get you 175k.
I get paid 62.40 in suburbs of Chicago working for a general merchandise chain in the Midwest.where do they pay 63/hour?
Don't mind anyone else, everyone has to learn something for the first time. Better to ask than remain ignorant.
