Has anyone had problems related to severe hypotension related to patient use of these medications? I have read of the issue but have not yet found a consensus on the holding of these medications preoperatively. does anyone have an institutional policy or is anyone aware of an official consensus?

Serious response only please, no time for foolishness.

You must be a CRNA. Why don't you go ask your CRNA friends? Or do they not know because they are NOT REAL DOCTORS!!

look it is a clinical question asked in a nonthreatening non-insulting manner. Any medical professionals out there have an answer or is the SDN just a collection of anti-crna ranters? 117 views no answer and two rants, come on let us step up to the plate.

Not one of us here, including me, wish to help you because you have said nasty things about doctors. look it up yourself. you cannot expect to say bad, disrespectful things about doctors and then come to a doctor forum and look for help and then be surprised when no one wants to help you.
close this thread.

my statment was in response to an unpleasent statment by a doctor. I am willing to bet no one has posted to them about how rude they were.
close the thread it is a clinical one, the only politicizing of it has come from the DOCTORS on SDN.

anti-doctor statements ruffle feathers. there is a subset of non-doctors that want to try to rewrite the rules and practice medicine without going to medical school. you must understand that many doctors feel stabbed in the back...and thus are quick to jump on anyone that seems like they are not team players.
that said, it will be my policy to hold these drugs pre-op. this is par for the course in my limited experience. imho, there are other ways to accomplish what these drugs will do without the risk of vasodilatory effects.

I have heard and read about this problem and yes, we have general guidelines in our dept. for dealing with this issue.

anyone wish to share these guidlines and policies?
