Step I ACE location?

Is Angiotensin I cleaved by angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) in the lungs? I was taught that throughout undergrad and I believe in my renal physiology section in medical school but someone told me that is not correct anymore and that it is not necessarily in the lungs. Anyone know? Currently, I'm sticking with what FA says, in that the cleavage takes place primarily in the lung capillaries. TIA.

yeah i think ACE is in the endothelial cells in the lung capillaries

The vast majority is in the lungs. The kidneys contain all of the enzymes necessary to make angiotensin II, but the levels of ACE are low.

As others have said, ACE is in the lungs.

As an aside, that is why ACE levels are often measured to determine if a patient has sarcoidosis, which primarily affects the lungs.
