Application of an esterase inhibitor eg; neostigmine , that can cause increased gastric juice secreation?

And also, these 2 questions came on a mid term today..I want to know if anyone can suggest an answer 🙂

Potential years of life Lost(PYLL) , does it highlight the loss to society as a result of deaths in the elderyl due to NATURAL causes?

And also, the presymomatic stage of the natrual history of a disease, are there pathological changes in the tissues associated with the disease?

Thanks alot, I am curious to see if my T/F was right.

I dont' know the other two, but the first questions, neostigmine can cause increased gastric secretion. Think about it it cholinesterase inhibitor, inhibits Ach cholinesterase enzyme that breaks down Ach. Therefore you have increased Ach at the receptor, so all Ach (PS) actions would occur.

Great , just wanted to make sure. I put that as the answer for a question today. The other answers had to do with lowered secreation of saliva and sweat I think..and some thing about the heart beating faster.

you really should just flat-out memorize all the symptoms of parasympathetic and sympathetic excess. Extremely high-yield and all around useful info.

Would it decrease or increase intraoccular pressure 😀 ?

It would decrease the intraocular pressure...activating the parasympathetic innervation of the eye will cause contraction of the ciliary muscle (M3), which will open the trabecular meshwork and let the aqueous humor drain easier.

Keep em' coming...this is a good review.

I guess I should just learn all and end it 🙂
In time for finals (next year May),/
