I've read so many times that acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter of post ganglinonic neuron in parasympathetic system and than norepinephrine is a neurotransmitter of postganglionic neuron in sympathetic system. I know that.

But what is the deal with neuromascular junction, somehow it is always acetylcholine operating there?

any help?
 
Yeah, the Acetylcholine acts on nicotinic receptors in both the PNS and SNS. ACh also binds at the muscarinic receptors of the PNS.

The only place you'll really see Nor/epinephrine bind are on the alpha and beta receptors in the SNS.

ACh is an excitatory NT, so you usually always get the same response when it is presented to a receptor, depolarization of the neuron. The difference between cell types, whether they are inhibitory or excitatory, is what really dictates the effects ACh have overall on the system.

You need to remember that the peripheral nervous system is really split into parts:

First, it's split into somatic vs autonomic. Autonomic is then split into sensory and then motor, and the two motor autonomic branches are the sympathetic and parasympathetic.

The neuromuscular junction is part of the somatic PNS.

The somatic pathway always uses Acetylcholine.
The sympathetic pathway uses ACh at the synapse between the pre- and post-ganglionic neurons. It uses NE at the synpase between the post-ganglionic neuron and the effector.
The parasympathetic pathway uses ACh at both synapses.
