Allllllllrighty. So my DAT is this Thursday, I have already spent $100 to reschedule, and so I'm not rescheduling it again.

The deal is, I SUCK AT ACHIEVER KEYHOLES. I go from getting 14/15 on CDP keyholes to 6/15 on Achiever keyholes UNTIMED. This is me, taking my precious time examining each answer choice, and still missing over half the questions. My question is, how comparable are Achiever keyholes to the real DAT? There are soooooo many minute little details in Achiever that are placed there just to trick you and they get me every time! It's really shattering my confidence for the PAT section. Honestly I will be happy with an 18 on the PAT section. I've been averaging 20 on CDP (timed). I know it's not that great because I see a lot of people on here score like 25's on their CDP tests. Lol. I've only got really 2 more days to study for the PAT. I only have 2 CDP test's left to take...and I'm debating whether or not to even try and continue with achiever.

Any advice would be appreciated..thanks guys

I haven't taken the DAT yet so I am not the one to give an advice..but I can say what I would do (based on reading other posts+taking the mcat in the past - ill explain in a sec how mcat is relevant to this post lol)

in any case...if I were you I would use the achiever at this point to LEARN from your mistakes and NOT make you freak out. i made the biggest mistake in the past with my mcat studies by freaking out 2 days before the exam and it's a big no-no! Go over your mistakes, understand why each answer choice is wrong and why the correct one is the right one! Also, make sue you do the other 2 CDPs.

DO NOT freak out..I have read in many posts that achiever's PAT is harder than the real thing. Also, from the last few breakdowns some people even mentioned the real DAT's PAT was indeed even EASIER than the CDPs...so it all depends on the kind of version that you get I assume.

I mainly replied to calm you down and not to give an advice since I haven't taken the test yet. Keep calm. Learn from your mistakes and you will be fine!

Good luck!!! 🙂

Hahahah. Thank you very much! That's what I've been doing....achiever is soooooo nit picky on the tiniest little details, and when I see where I screwed up it's so frustrating! Definitely going to finish the last 2 CDP's and then hope for the best I suppose! If the real thing is on the same level of achiever, I'm screwed, and they should give us more than 60 minutes haha

that's the spirit 🙂 let us know when its all over🙂

I might do a break down after Thursday........depending on how well I do... lol.

Anyways, can anyone explain what a 1/3 hole punch is? I don't think I've ever seen one, and I don't want it to freak me out if it happens to show up on my exam .. ;|

yea...I second that. Please can someone post an example from achiever because I have taken three practice exams and I don't know what people are saying when they mention 1/3 fold. If anyone can post an example or tell me which number from achiever in tests 1-5 so I can look at an example or 2 myself. Thank you in advance. Good Luck Taylorreve your going to kill it. Believe.

Haha, I felt the same way about Achiever keyholes. Definitely shook me up before my test. Don't worry about Achiever keyholes. I found that the keyholes on my test were far easier. In regards to keyholes, Achiever is good practice because it will prepare you for the several tough questions that might come up.

Somebody posted an example of a 1/3 holepunch a little over one month ago. If you search the forum closely, you should be able to find it.

IMO, the PAT was in between CDP and Achiever, but much closer to CDP (at least for my test). If you can make it through Achiever and learn from your mistakes, you should be golden. Just don't forget to watch the clock!

Yeah, Achiever was harder than the real deal, but CDP was easier, so I found it in between as well.

My keyholes had some proportions going on. I agree that Achiever keyholes are ridiculously hard, and the ones on the actual one weren't so bad, but there were a few that I honestly had to guess on.

A third hole punch is when the crease of the fold looks like it is at the third of the width of the paper. Normally CDP gives you half folds or quarter folds, but third folds can show up too. See if you can find the picture that someone posted. They aren't that bad, just go with your gut about which of the two holes to pick and you should be good.

does the line of symmetry method still work for 1/3 hole punch?

yes, it does still work but your line might be in the middle of a row instead of between rows, if that makes sense. kind of like how in a diagonal fold the line goes through instead of between.

I just got an 18 on the Achiever PAT test #2. Is that good? I'm also taking it on Thursday and I don't think I will have the time to study it any further.
