I just started preparing for the DAT a few days ago and have already spent overe $100 on books. Is it worth it to purchase these practice exams from Achiever? Is Kaplan sufficient?

Just wondering since a lot of members on this board seem to be using Achiever.

I'm a former pre-pharm student and had 85+ scores on the PCAT and the material seems similar except for the additional PAT section on the DAT, so I'm hoping to get similar scores.

In my opinion, kaplan is not sufficient. Achiever and Topscore help me pace myself so that I'm ready for the real thing. Also, consider investing in the DAT destroyer.

As for the money issue, if Dentistry is something you really want to do, then money should not be a factor.

Best of luck to you on your exam!

I agree with Decan. I've been a pretty silent observer on these forums, but will take my DATs on the 30th. I don't have topscore, but I do have Achiever and have only taken 1 test so far. Its definitely more challenging than any Kaplan or Barron's material.

As for Destroyer, I'm not sure because I don't use it, but many people praise it very highly. I use Campbell's Bio, which i think is really good.

I use the Destroyer, and by use I mean really really use. I mean up and down the posts this is THE BOOK that everybody talks about. That should tell where to really invest your money. AS long as you have that and a little of something else to supplement it with you should have enough material. good luck.
