ACS Orgo compared with real DAT?

For me it actually was about the same. On my site I actually advise students to use the ACS guide to help study for the DAT.
I took the ACS exam 1 month before the DAT and scored in the 96th percentile. I did not study Organic Chemistry during the one month between the ACS and the DAT except for doing practice tests and a quick brush up 2 days before the DAT. I then scored in the 95th percentile.
I have to admit that the course I took was difficult and very thorough. Our class seemed to average somewhere in the 80th percentile for the ACS exam.
Use the ACS guide to find what types of problems you are struggling with and use a textbook to practice the same type of questions until you are comfortable with the concept. Then try going through the Orgo section of the DAT destroyer.
The practice tests from Top Score seem to also be about on par with the orgo section on the DAT. I scored if i remember right 25-28 on the practice tests and 23 on the real DAT. Difference of 1 question or so.

Nice thread, I just took the ACS and a 60 out of 70 would have been great for me. But the national average is like a 45 for the 66%tile and a 50 for the 70 something %tile. I haven't check recently, but I thought parts of the ACS were difficult while others were easy. I will be taking the DAT this summer and appreciate the feedback Philippines! I will review the ACS study guide as well over the summer in preparation for the DAT.

I just took the ACS, it's a pretty tough exam but not as hard as everyone makes it out to be. I scored the highest my professor has ever received, but that doesn't say much because I go to a very small school and the academic competition is not exactly fierce. I would say the ACS is more or less on the same level as Destroyer, and from what I've read Destroyer is significantly harder than the actual test. Hope that helps!
