ACT/MCAT Correlation?

I've heard plus or minus one point, and it held true for me.

I have not heard of a direct correlation, but I'm thinking that if a person does really well on their ACT/SAT, they are more likely to do well on future standarized tests including the MCAT. So someone who scores above a 30 on ACT and/or above a 1450 on SAT is more likely to score above say, 25 or 30 on MCAT, if all else is equal.

I think that is probably pretty close to right. It didn't hold true in my situation but that was my own doing. I made a 32 ACT and a 28 MCAT, but I only studied about 15 hours for the MCAT..NonTradMed said:

I don't know about the ACT. I think I woke up and my mom told me that the ACT was that morning, so get up. Did okay on the MCAT, though.

what on earth is an ACT? I never really knew anyone that took it. For me, my SAT scores were not correlated with my MCAT scores at all. I guess MCATs required a tad more studying??? darn.

Pretty similar here too. Was already attending college and they told me I need to take the ACT and score at least a 14, so the next day I went in and took it cold. Didn't care. But MCAT? oh baby, studied my butt off. 👍HunterGatherer said:some schools take ACT or SAT especially state schools.

As far as I know, almost ALL schools require ACT or SAT (public and private)---I know Johns Hopkins threatened to not require their students to take it a few years back because so many of their students who scoring very high. ACT used to be used mostly for midwest schools while SAT was popular in the coasts. Nowadays, kids take both so that it can bolster one score if they did poorly on the other (and also the expand their options for schools). I took both because I lived in the midwest but I wasn't sure if I was headed coastal or not. Personally, I think the ACT was harder than the SAT because there was more science reasoning on the ACT but that's just me. My ACT score wasn't too far off from my MCAT score but percentile wise, I did much better on ACT! 😀

I had a 3.75 high school GPA, never had any homework or studied a day in my life. Woke up, took the SAT scored an 1190. Many of my counterparts who did not have the high GPA studied very hard for the SAT and make around the 1250 - 1300 mark.
College is a completely different story. You can't go about it like you do in high school. It's alot different when you are PAYING for your education as opposed to getting it for free.
This boils down to no, I don't think anyone is just gonna wake up one day and take the MCAT, so it is difficult to find too many similarities between ACT/SAT and the MCAT.

I didn't take the ACT--but MCAT vs SAT (national percentage wise), I did much better on the SAT than I did on the MCAT. I guess that doesn't say much for my college education, but oh well...

my mcat score is a little higher than my act was, but i think the act percentage was higher. act's are scored out of 36 points instead of 45, so you have to account for that, too. there's probably some correlation as was mentioned above in that people who are good at standardized tests will do well on both. they're on totally different subject matters, though, and both are content-based, so the similarity probably ends there.
