THIS MAY SOUND KIND OF SILLY, BUT DID ANYONE GET REALLY CRAPPY ACT/SAT SCORES AND VERY HIGH DAT SCORES (FOR MY PERSONAL WEIRD STATS)???? I APOLOGIZE FOR MAKING SO MANY THREADS; I'M A LITTLE TRIGGER HAPPY TODAY...LOL .

ACT/SAT scores are not good predictors of how well you do on the DAT.

For example, I had a decent ACT score that I wasn't proud of and scored in the 97th percentile on the DAT.

THANKS! I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT! DID YOU DO ANYTHING SPECIAL WHILE PREPARING FOR THE DAT?

Exactly what @Jttran said. I didn't study for the SAT and ACT and did well on those. I had to live and breathe DAT material to get the score that I'm only mildly okay with, haha.

This is just my personal opinion, but your SAT/ACT should be an okay indicator of your RC or QR scores. If you did well on your SAT, you should do well on those two sections with minimum preparation. But if you did bad on your SAT, that doesn't mean you will do bad on your RC/QR either though.

LOL. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOW I STUDY BEFORE TAKING THE TEST?

Like any other admissions exam (or any test for that matter), the amount of effort/time you put into studying will correlate with better scores. I put in way more time into studying for my DAT than my SAT and therefore got better results.

Although there are some similar sections on both tests (math and reading comp), the SAT is probably not a good indicator of whether you will do well on the DAT. Just study the best you can you will do great! Good luck with everything 🙂

The caps lock is a little overkill, haha. 2 months should be more than enough, but you'll still hear about people studying less than a month ahead but studied 10+ hours a day. There are threads regarding DAT study schedules so you'll want to peek at these to see what it may entail and tweak it to fit your personal schedule.

Oh...sorry lol; I think I'll do that (take a look at DAT study schedule forum). Where do you attend school?

If you just search the forum for DAT study schedule or DAT breakdown, these posts are super helpful! I just graduated from University of Washington

What information you are trying to seek will take time, I understand you are trying to get the most you can from us, but definitely go to the ADA website and ADEA website....

You will find tons of information,

I think there is no correlation of these two test,

Every standardized test are different, probably except math types,

DAT is tougher.

Remember the DAT is the test for which individuals must take to become a Dentist in the United States, this is probably top 5 of toughest tests to take ( guessing).

Did you go to those websites?

I don't know if they relate to each other, but I didn't study for the ACT and got a 30. I studied about 80 hours for DAT and got a 22.
They probably relate in a way that if you are a good standardized test taker, you will probably do well on both.

DAT and SAT/ACT are not comparable exams.... Not trying to be mean, but you should try to find answers by browsing either ADEA or sdn, as a lot of your questions are asked before by others and answers can be easily found. 🙂

I did horrible on my ACT (22) and i got a 20TS/AA and 22 PAT on my DAT. Don't let bad ACT scores haunt you. I also got my lowest score in RC on the ACT (like an 19ish?) and got a 21 on it on the DAT! My math score was my highest on the ACT, and lowest on the DAT (18)

No offense but I highly recommend you compiling all of your topics into one. I'm sure you'll receive more feedback.

I walked into my ACT without studying and did alright (29), that's simply not possible with the DAT since you need to memorize stuff.

Scored a 40 percentile on SAT with a 20 percentile on reading. However, on the DAT I scored a 91 percentile overall and a 70 percentile on the reading.

when the SAT was 1600 total I got 800 in math, 600 in verbal.
on DAT I got 23 on both QR and RC.

Is there a correlation? I am not sure.
Math might have more correlation, but SAT verbal vs RC on DAT are apples and oranges.
On the other hand, if you are good with SAT/ACT, QR shouldn't be too hard to do well in.

Like other people said, there isnt a whole lot of correlation between DAT vs SAT/ACT. Nor there should be.

One is an entrance exam to a doctorate program and the other is an entrance exam for high school students.

However, if you held me a gun-point and to pick, I'd say QR and RC just because English is English and math is math. Except DAT you need to know trig and calc, which most of you shouldve had have in high school anyways.

The sciences and PAT are NOTHING like anything on SAT/ACT.

In conclusion, no. No correlation. but only if you dont threaten to shoot me ... pls....

This thread is gradually turning into a place where people post their SAT, DAT score comparisons.

I got 3000 SAT, 30 ACT, 30 AA. I think there is some correlation there.
