Action potential propagation in the heart is slowest in the:
A) SA node
B) AV node
C) Bundle of His
D) Purkinje fibers

I knew the answer, but then I asked myself, "why?" and I couldn't provide myself with a real answer. I couldn't find it in the text either, and any information I have tried googling seems really over-done for what may be required by the MCAT.

Thank you!

The cells of the AV node undergo a slow influx of calcium rather than rapid influx of sodium.
