In the event that I don't get in to the one school to which I applied, I am wondering if I can get a jump on writting secondary essays (since everything else for my app is in place) for the next application cycle. Even if I don't get secondaries at all the schools I am interested in perhaps there are essays that overlap.

The secondary app sites that I have found merely have links to the med school sites so you can download your own copy, which most schools won't allow you to do unless you are invited. If you know of a site or remember the major essay questions off the top of your head please let me know (PM would be fine).

U. Arizona
Tulane
Pittsburgh
Hopkins
Harvard
Stanford
Boston U
GWU
UW

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Are you an Arizona resident (because they only accept people from AZ or WICHE applicants)? U. Arizona has no secondary essays, except for a form to fill out demonstrating that you are an Arizona resident, as well as a form where you indicate your preference for the Tucson or Phoenix clinical campus during the 3rd and 4th years. And you are guaranteed an interview as long as you are an in-state applicant.

Here are the reqs for the UWSOM:

AUTOBIOGRAPHY: You must submit a brief autobiographical statement. It should describe the origin and development of your motivation to be a physician and any other issues of importance. The Personal Comments section of the AMCAS application may be used to satisfy this requirement, or an additional autobiography may be submitted with your supplemental materials. Please write your name and SSN at the top of the page and indicate on the data form if you are submitting an additional autobiography. Due to the volume of applications we receive, publications or manuscripts will not be included in your application file, and cannot be returned if sent. Instead, please submit abstracts or other brief descriptions of your work.

"WHY UWSOM" STATEMENT: You must submit a statement, not exceeding 200 words, about why you want to attend the UWSOM. This cannot be fulfilled by the AMCAS Personal Statement or the additional autobiography.

Anyone have the UC secondaries?

Thanks, guys! So for essays we have:

U. Arizona: None
Tulane
Pittsburgh
Hopkins
Harvard: None
Stanford
Boston U: None
GWU
UW: One autobiographical sketch; UW interest (200words)

Indeed, I am an AZ resident. Any other essay questions that you guys saw come up that I may want to start thinking about?

I'm starting to wonder how hard you've looked for these. I distinctly remember printing Tulane's secondary before AMCAS last year.

Sorry. I searched and became very lazy when I looked at all the results.

LaurieB, Hi I just read through your interview feedbacks and was surprised that a school in this day and age wouldn't offer left-handed desks. I wonder how their left-handed students handle the situation. I'm glad my school doesn't have desks, but rather they have tables.

GWU:
1) If you are not attending school full time during the entire 2003-2004 school year, indicate activities, coursework, employment, or other occupations to account for full-time involvement. (3 lines maximum)

2) Briefly describe specific factors that motivated you to apply to GWU. Include highlights of your experiences that demonstrate your commitment to medicine as well as role models, mentors, or family members who influenced your decision to apply to GWU (5 lines maximum)

If GWU gives you five lines to answer #2, well, geez, what do I do with the other four lines?🙄
Thanks!

USF:

$30 fee. Biographic info/more activities if you want to list them.

Essay:
Please provide the Committee with an essay profiling yourself and family, including, for example, work experience, travel experiences, fun and diversions, family traits, education, occupations, hobbies, and interests. If married, please include your spouse (and children). This essay should be different from your AMCAS essay.
