Janet Konefal, Ph.D., M.P.H., C.A. (305) 243-4751; [email protected]
Associate Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences; Chief, Division of Complementary & Integrative Medicine. Specialty Areas: Neurolinguistic psychology (therapy and research). Research Projects: Acupuncture effects on various illnesses.

Don't know if this is still the case, but I was told that UCLA used to have an introductory training program for acupuncture. I don't think it was a part of the residency, but more a supplemental type of training.

yes, they actually have a program where MD's can become trained in acupuncture. one of attendings did it.

I don't know how frequently it's used (or taught) there, but there was an R03 investigating adjunctive acupuncture for bipolar depression at UTSW not too long ago.

So that at least demonstrates some level of interest at that site...

I know a neurologist in Ca. named Sidney Kurn, M.D. who does it regularly in his practice.
