To be completely honest, you're not very nice. You're quite arrogant and condescending. I'm not being negative, just honest. It's one thing when one person says it, it's another when you've got a whole group of people who have never met each other, independently coming to the same conclusion about someone based on their comments.
You give me the vibe of the nightmare classmate in dental school. Gunner, manipulator, cutthroat, and an overall sense of negative energy.
You've got a lot of growing up to do young lady. Sorry to be so brutally honest.

Well said. Also, you (flowergirl) should know that being 'honest' when no one really asked for your input isn't helpful. It's kind of like going up to an overweight person on the street, calling them fat and then when revoked saying 'hey, I'm just being honest.' (by your logic). So while honesty is great (when asked for), there is a time and place for everything, and when you don't really have any credentials or experience to backup your claims, nor do you have any insight or background knowledge on the situation you have invited to yourself to speak on, it's really not helping anyone. Just trying to give you some insight since to seem to be feeling victimized.

Let's get the discussion back on topic please. If you have a problem with a user, you can report them, use the "ignore" feature, and move on. Thanks.

How long do you folks thing it will be until residencies adopt this as "the standard?"
I've seen some accept scores, but not require them. What I'm saying is, how long do you think until this exam really builds steam as the "go-to" indicator for residency competitiveness?

Wait is this ADAT for ALL specialties or a few? Like when I look at some school's website for different specialties it still says like GRE for Perio and CBSE for OMS for example. Or is it just because it hasn't fully taken place yet?

CBSE isn't going anywhere as far as I'm concerned. The ADAT will replace the GRE in most cases but it hasn't been implemented.

They're just starting with it, so not everyone is on board yet. I would expect to give it a few years to be able to analyze and compare scores to success rates in residency before (if) it is universally adopted.

Let's say you want to specialize in OMS... What are all the tests you'll be taking and when (including the NBDEs, etc.)?

I heard rumors we'll have to take both CBSE and the ADAT which would suck. In addition to boards I think. But who knows what it'll be like 4 years down the road.

Oy...
Do you think it's an attempt to reduce the number of applicants?

I mean my opinion probably doesn't have much credibility since this is just a complete guess, but I'd imagine it's just because things are just getting more and more competitive so it's another way to make sure they get the best of the best applying.

Some poor person in the future is going to be looking for info on the ADAT and get excited when they see a thread with 50+ posts... Only to find out it's drama and gifs

The best part? I'll probably forget and make this exact mistake in like 2018.
That legitimately just happened to me. Thanks SDN!!

If you mistake my honesty with rudeness, then sure. I'm being "rude" everywhere. Did you always enjoy trying to spite a potential dissenter in order to take a cheap shot?
From what I have seen you post and your exchanges with other members, you are such a rude person to deal with. I feel sorry for whatever guy gets stuck with you. Don't mistake my honesty with rudeness though 😉

Just had to be honest. It's a public forum. She should recognize how privileged she is to even be able to take those exams, as some people can't even afford the fee to do so. No one's forcing her to do anything.

She probably can't afford it either. #loans

Why do I feel like my life is just one giant exam after another?

First SAT/ACT, then GRE, then DAT, then NBDE part 1, then NBDE part 2 and maybe now the ADAT thrown in there somewhere.

Hey don't forget state licensing exams like law and ethics. :diebanana:

If it's critical to you, then act like it instead of mrs. I got something stuck in my behind when you haven't even been admitted to dental school.

Some people need a reality check. If you don't like what I have to say, then you're more than welcome to ignore it. Welcome to the nature of a public forum, bud.

I started junior year with a <2.9 sGPA and a 3.0 oGPA. I finished undergrad with a 3.45 sGPA and a 3.5 oGPA by pulling 4.0's for the remaining four semesters. I then scored a 24 AA/25 TS on my DAT. I don't really get where you're getting that their chances are extremely low... Anyone can get good grades, just have to devote yourself to it. People who have low GPAs can easily turn it around, and with an SMP they get a fresh start. That's the reality.

For every person that turns it around, there are thousands of others that never get to do so because they're simply too far behind. That's the reality.

You obviously don't know the circumstances or situation that a person with a 3.0 GPA in undergrad was in. It doesn't make them incapable of doing well. By your logic, Bill Gates or Steve Jobs wouldn't do well in a Masters either because neither finished school.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are obvious outliers. A 3.0 in any undergraduate institution says a lot about your overall academic performance.

I'm arrogant for simply pointing out how she privileged she is to even be able to take those exams while there are people in third-world counties that can't even cough up the fee to do so? Makes sense. You should try to think for yourself instead of letting the bandwagon do it for you.

I don't have any credentials? My own Dad's a Dentist and my stats are solid. I don't have an issue in getting into dental school. I was simply giving you my own suggestion when it came to your circumstances, as you did post in a public forum. I wish you the best.

i'm freaking out. what is the adat? never heard of it until now.

You mean you didn't take this yet before you submitted?

You're right. @qkrdpsk , your AADSAS app is incomplete!

I kid, I kid.

Since NBDE I and II are P/F, ADAT is the new exam that residency programs will use to assess applicants to the dental specialties.

I personally don't have anything against you, but I would be careful with how you are portraying yourself on this forum. Being a public forum, you do realize that SDN is abundant with adcoms and dental students (such as myself and others on this thread) who have a say on your admission into dental school. Posting your exact oGPA and sGPA just make it easier to target you. Your father and your stats will get you an interview but after that your personality becomes the main player. That's just my 2 cents.

Yeah. Isn't that wonderful?
It's not going to be universally adopted within a single specialty either. The same specialty across different residency programs/schools might require different test scores. Which means for the next few years, your best shot is to take ALL the tests lmao.

It looks like OMS really likes their CBSE. I think the ADAT might replace the GRE at best

Excuse me? Just because you're allegedly a dental student on a different continent doesn't mean you have an impact on my future endeavors. You're out of line here.

You won't even need the GPA to identify her.

She's going to be the one submitting letters of recommendation from non-required professors in-lieu of required letters 🤣

I may not directly but a lot of people on here definitely do and they are watching. Mind you I know people in adcoms as well as am close with D3s and D4s of some of the top schools in the US. It is called professionalism and when you lack it in dentistry, people will notice right away. It doesn't matter what country/continent you live in.

You say I lack professionalism when you go out of your way to insult me for giving sincere advice. You need to check yourself before you start telling others to act more "professional."

The last time I checked, I was in dental school. I'm just giving you sincere advice so you don't do something stupid on this forum and regret it later.

I would agree with you, I think that's a solid guess.
I would also guess that the purpose behind it is to eventually set one baseline exam for all, from the ADA, since they are the ones accrediting the programs.

Hey @JLT223 @xerxes106
I got THE DREADED MESSAGE!!

If we don't start ignoring her she's just going to get another thread locked.

Because there are people in third world countries who have less money than me, I can't talk about something I don't like? Following that logic, I guess you better never feel good about anything because there are people who are better off than you.

Although judging by your attitude towards others on this forum, you already have no issue with that.

Either way, I'm putting you on ignore. I'll continue to talk to people on these forums that I have spent almost everyday for the last year getting to know, think back to my time in a sorority that you laughably have an issue with, and start dental school in the fall knowing that I had the academic abilities and professionalism to get in.

Good luck to you.

Alright I think we got a general consensus of how people feel about her responses. Good idea to just drop this whole thing get back to the topic about boards and the ADAT in dental school.

ADAT is only for residency placement right? It's not considered a standard for residencies to look at yet right?

Your terrible responses have prompted me to finally make an account because you are so unbearable.

You know that fear that you have deep down in the back of your mind, wondering if everybody hates you, if they are all putting on a facade just to deal with you until you leave, if they hate being around you, and talk about you behind your back? Well they do and its entirely because of the person you are.

I sincerely hope that you never get into dental school. I would feel bad for your future classmates, professors and most of all patients that would have to put up with your insufferable and arrogant attitude. You have one of the worst personalities I have have seen.

I hope the rest of your life is as pleasant as you are.
