The situation is this : You want to apply as soon as the cycle opens, yet your summer course replacement grades won't come in until August.

In this situation popular SDN wisdom suggests applying ASAP to one school and then waiting until last transcript is received to apply to the rest of your schools.
As a reapplicant that applied last cycle in September, I think that approach is flawed, I believe time is of the essence here, hence the urgency. My question to all SDNers, especially ADCOMs / med students is: Do you honestly think waiting is the best approach to increase your chances for an interview? what would you do if you were in this situation?

my current situation is this,

cGPA 3.14
sGPA 3.17

MCAT 29 (PS/VR/BS) 11/7/11

After summer replacements AND assuming GPA 4.0 (realistic in this situation)

cGPA 3.19
sGPA 3.22

With that small of a jump, I wouldn't wait.

Your previous posts made it seem like you were going from 3.0 to 3.3, a .3 GPA increase is much bigger than a .05 increase.

Ask Goro to be sure.

I applied late July (and wasn't verified till August) last year with similar stats to what yours will be once your new grades come out. When in August do they come out? I think you'll be fine either way.

I'm not an adcom or experienced user you're asking for.... but I really don't think that kind of GPA change is going to make/break you at any program. I'd apply early with your transcript update pending.

With such a small jump, don't bother waiting.

i was thinking the same thing

Hey GORO are you out there???

Don't wait, apply before August for the less than 0.1 increase. It also doesn't put you above any other school's cutoff by waiting (highest is 3.25 at KCUMB).

True. I am not really breaking any threshold here or anything. thanks for the insight

Yes, thankfully. Good luck this cycle.

Quit fussing; waiting is fine.
It's a LONG interview cycle, and the 5000-10000 or so seats do not fill up by the end of September.

At our school, the rule of thumb is that it takes 30-45 days from receipt of final packet to issuing of interview invite.

So yes, the earlier, the better, but we're STILL interviewing (although the Class is almost filled).

Thank you Goro! maybe waiting for a >.1 or .2 GPA increase (say 3.05 to 3.2) is worth it...maybe in my situation is not that much?
