Adcoms look at your school transcript or aadsas GPA?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
aadsas GPA. but you can send your transcript to the school if they allow it so they can take a look at it to... call them before just sending them a copy of your transcript.

Thanks peanut,

I have another question: Does math courses count into your sGPA on aadsas?

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question.

Do adcoms look at your school transcript GPA more or aadsas GPA more or both?

Thank you,

peanutb123's right. Most schools only look at the AADSAS GPA, I don't even think AADSAS provides the typed-up transcripes.... only the overall page showing all the GPAs.

However, there are a few schools (example Detroit Mercy) that will specifically ask the applicant to forward all their official transcripts to them. Apparently they also use this to see how heavy of a course load you were taking, schools like Mercy like to see 15-18 heavy credit hours per semester especially in junior and senior year (This is thier justification of why they ask for the transcripts)

Then how do they know your grades in individual classes? For example, if someone got a C in Biology or Orgo, how would they be able to know if they only saw GPA and not transcript?

I think they may have access to the transcript info you provide to AADSAS (such as classes/AADSAS grades and when/where you took them). When I was at Penn, it looked like one of my interviewers had that info (she looked at it and asked me a question about it). I am not 100% sure if that was what she was looking at, but I think that is what it was.

When you enter your coursework in AADSAS, you have to include all classes and grades, and adcoms will be able to see this information when they receive a copy of your AADSAS application.

Thanks 4thMolar.

How is this different than a typed up transcript?

Data is more search-able. For example they can probably by one click see all your science classes etc... plus aadsas has their own way of calc. gpa. Which is just awful if you have a,B+,b,C+,c system then your gpa is giong to be lower than your transcript. But if you have a,a-,b+,b,b- then your gpa will remain the same.

most schools just weed you out by the GPA. if gpa is like average or something then they can look at your grades in science classes. It makes sense why would they waste their time looking at a persons grades when their gpa is below 2.9 you can automatically assume that they didnt do too good in their science classes.
