So, my school grades on a regular a,b.. scale, but I've noticed there are many SDNers that graded on the +/- scale. I would think that these people are at a distinct disadvantage when they compare GPRs with those that aren't on the +/- system. Do you think that med schools take this into account? Just curious.

What is this 'disadvantage' you speak of? How I see the A,B,C,D,F system is that a 90% counts as an A (since A- doesn't exist), yet an 89% counts as simply a B (since B+ doesn't exist). So again, what is the disadvantage or rather, the advantage?

It evens out for most people. For me, I only have two B+ grades on my transcript compared to several A- grades, so I would have a decent advantage if those grades were respectively rounded to 3.0 and 4.0... but I don't think it's a big deal. I'm too lazy to bring up my transcript, but I doubt my GPA would go up too substantially.

GPA is important, but it's not so critical that you're going to get rejected straight off of it unless you're well below their preferred average. Schools do have to account for varying degrees of difficulty and harshness in grading among different undergraduate institutions...
