Random question.....Do you think it matters to adcoms if your single or married? or what if you have a child?

I would think being married would be a slight advantage because one thing they look for in the application process is commitment to the profession (the last thing they want is someone dropping out after 1 semester) and if you can commit yourself to another person like that it would say something about your character.

However, if you're considering getting hitched just to impress the interviewers I'd have to say that's probably a bad idea. Same with having a kid.

I'm single myself and was asked about that a couple of times. While I can't be sure about the exact intention of the interviewer, I know in one case one was trying to learn about my support system as I would have no family withing a 1500 mile radius. Another one felt that having a spouse could put strain on a student and seemed pleased when I told him I was single. Foremost I believe that the most critical thing adcoms are gauging in an interview are the qualities of your character (maturity, sense of responsibility, etc.) and I don't think that your marital status plays a significant part, if at all, in their decision. In regards to obtaining a spouse during the next two months to impress a panel of aged professors - my instincts say no. Best of luck!
