Can adcoms figure out how much you've actually worked? I figured they could via social security or tax filings but I worked 40+ hours a week but $ under the table.. my boss would definately vouch for my working but does it need to be verified through 3rd party sources too?

I hear some schools do a background check, I'm not sure if they look at it closely to analyze whether your amcas is exactly correct or just to make sure you aren't a wanted felon. Anyhow, even if your boss could vouch for it, that'd be kinda shady and not something you'd want to bring to the adcom's attention.

my boss would obviously not detail that it's tax-free so unless they looked at my tax filings.. they wouldn't know..

I always think its funny when they ask "date (day, month, year), how many hours.." if you think about it it's kinda ridiculous. in college, we were most likely in a drunken, sleep deprived stupor for 90% of the time... how accurate can they expect us to be with all of these time allocations???

If you are honest, than nothing bad can come of it. Don't worry so much. Adcoms receive thousands of applications and don't have time to verify every little detail. Plus, AMCAS does not ask you to list a phone number for you post-secondary experiences. Maybe it will come up in the interview at which point you will be able to honestly describe your work schedule.
