Hey guys. I am currently about to finish up my BA degree in biology then take the MCAT and apply to med schools. I have one concern and Im wondering if anyone can help me out. I am prescribed adderall by a physician legitimately. How will it work if I go to med school in the Caribbean? Can i get my medicine there? or am I screwed?

You can definitely get your ADD meds into the Caribbean, as long as you have the money for it. Chances are from that moment on, you will never be able to get your US ADD meds, which will leave you poor and distracted... :help:

What do you mean?

What they are trying to say here is that you will be screwed if you go to a Caribbean med school and if won't be for lack of ADD meds. The problem is that Carib med schools have a considerable proportion of students who drop-out or flunk-out. If you are successful in earning a degree, you face considerable difficulty in matching into a residency position in the US which is required to gain a license to practice medicine in the US. Ask the school(s) you are condsidering, "what proportion of matriculants from among the admitted students in 2008 have successfully matched to a residency program?" For US med schools by contrast the number is 92-95% of 2008 admitted M1 students have matched into a residency by 2015. (Figure is a guess on my part but I'm in the ballpark.)

Go Carib only if you like the idea of being unemployed and deeply in debt.

Sorry guys, OP was quickly distracted by Goro's avatar and now wants to be a Vet.

I'm sure you can find a nice American doctor to help you get your medicine in the Caribbean. The islands must be full of US-born IMGs who failed to match into an American residency.
