hmm.....I don't know what a troll is.(unless I dig out my old D & D monster kit..but dude that was 25 years ago) I'm guessing you guys spend WAY too much time in these boards and now have your own language.
I'n all sincerity...I was actually thinking about attending med school. Just an itch I've been wanting to scratch. I just thought I'd be funny and start this thread. Actually, I'm not all that familiar with the differences between the physicians...but the idea of holistic medicine appeals to me. (and by that I don't mean magic spells and herbs)

If you are serious.. there are lots of DC and OD who go back to do a DO degree or medical degree. Contact the schools directly and see what they would say. Normally MCAT will have to be taken. That is where it becomes a pain in the ass. You have to go back and remember things from YEARSSS ago.

BTW, there are lots of people on here that post stupid stuff.. they are called trolls... and we are not too "nice" to these people. So that is why people responded as such.

Good luck with that itch. I say put some tropical cream and go to med school. 4 years later it should be out of your system.

Dood, I thought it was funny.

Thanks....
just a question....do you get any time for time served or do you take all four years. Many classes in 1st and second year are probably the same. I just don't know.Plus..I'm 35, have a decent practice with my wife. I just wonder if it's worth the effort. I love the idea of learning more and practicing the way I would like too. These are the questions that keep me up at night.
Plus we're already in debt to the tune of 140 K in student loans. I think that wife could possibly kill me. (I am insured..hmmm...got think about that one)

You have to start over. It's four years for you as well. Even students transferring from another medical school (e.g., Caribbean) sometimes have to start over from year one.

yikes! 😱

Since you're an OD, i'm assuming you want to do Ophtho...correct me if I'm wrong. I'm gonna suggest that you go MD, just becuase it's a hard uphill battle to match ophtho, but it's an even more uphill battle to match as a DO into allo ophtho. There are a few DO spots, but those are also hard to come by, and from what I know, they have trouble getting barely enough class 1 surgeries during residency. However, if you go into family practice or some sort of outpatient primary care, you might have a potential business idea. Imagine, a 2 for 1 practice where you can get your yearly physical as well as as your refraction, glasses and contact lens fitting...

LOL, dood would be cool. 🙂 yep, you couldn't pass up the chance to have those initials following your name.

now, if you're somewhat serious, texas has a dirt cheap osteopathic medical school (tcom). you'd have to move 'cause it's in fort worth, but you wouldn't wind up doubling your debt load.

It's only dirt cheap for residents - everyone else = 19K per annum. Also, they take less than 10 non-TX resident students per year.

Of course, with the way our tuition has been going (now ~10K for in-state tuition), I have no clue what out of state would be now.

Still a pretty good bargain comparatively though.

great..cuz I am a texas resident. I lived in Ft W until I was 7. We were thinking about moving to houston or dallas anyway..so that may not be a bad deal.

isnt dood like a nudered horse or soemthing?? hehe
