Does anyone know what restrictions there are with becoming a navy physician (via usuhs or hpsp) and taking adderall. My understanding is that not only can you not take adderall while in the navy, but you must also be off of it for an extended period of time while still enrolled in school. Does anyone know the specifics of this as it pertains to both HPSP and USUHS?

If it is for ADHD, you need to demonstrate academic or work success off the med for 1 year.

If you have to go back on it once you are in, it won't get you kicked out.

thank you NavyFP! It is for ADHD. Do you know if this applies for USUHS as well?

That's funny because there are a shocking number of Navy physicians who take Adderall, Ritalin, etc. There are a shockingly high number of Navy officers and enlisted who do the same. Don't know whether it was pre-existing, but you can definitely take it once you are in.

It is interesting to know that the Coast Guard will boot you out for taking it though.
