Hi everyone,

Posting on behalf of one of my best friends who is taking the addiction psychiatry boards in a few weeks. He had planned to start studying in July for the October exam, but due to some family stuff he wasn't able to start until recently.

His question: for those who have taken the Addiction Psychiatry Boards, what did you use to study, and what would you recommend to focus on with less than a month before the exam?

(I'm a child and adolescent psychiatrist, so I have no advice to give him. I told him to get an SDN account, but he wants to avoid getting distracted by new social media now.)

Any advice would be so greatly appreciated!

I used the boardvitals Addiction Medicine question bank. I'm aware they are a different test, but I passed my addiction psych boards just by studying from that one.

I wonder how that compares to Beat the Boards' Addiction Psych Qbank, which I think is the one he said he's using. Anyway, thanks for the reply!

Didn't use any study materials. Finished the exam in 1/2 time.
Not saying it's not needed if you feel better using it, but stick to something cheap, no more than $200 and spend maybe 1-2 weekend days - no more.

What do you think made it feel that simple? When I took CAP boards, I found it more difficult than gen psych boards in some ways, though I scored better on the CAP exam than on gen psych. I think I accidentally freaked my friend out because last year I said I thought CAP was harder (can't believe he remembers that!), so now he's thinking maybe all the subspecialty boards are more difficult.
