My primary has been transmitted to all of my schools, I received secondaries from almost all of them, and I have returned secondaries to about half of my top choice schools.

I just got a promotion at my job today (paid clinical experience), and my supervisor offered to write me an LOR. I want to:
1. Inform my schools that I got a promotion, and have this promotion be considered as part of my application.
2. Send this new LOR.

Can I somehow update AMCAS to include the promotion? If I add a LOR to my AMCAS, I assume the letter will be transmitted to all of the schools that I assign it to, but will it be added to my application file, or does the fact that I am already complete mean that my file is printed out, already sitting on someones desk somewhere and the new letter won't get considered?

1) you cant update AMCAS experience for promotion
2) you can assign letter to all schools and it will be transmitted
3) it may sit and never get to evalutor
4) of course if you do assign it, you are telling the schools you want this included for consideration. Which could mean to pull your file out of complete, open it up, mark it completed and put it back now at the bottom of the pile.... yes you could lose your place in eval or review queue

Do you think it's worth it to submit the letter and pull my app back down to the bottom of the pile?

********** (very underserved service oriented) is one of my dream schools, and I worry that not having a letter from my current employer will make me look bad. Would it be better to retain my place in the queue without a letter from my employer (my current letters are from PI, professor of biochem, and professor of geography), or to put put my app at the bottom of the pile with a LOR from my job at a detox center that primarily serves the homeless?

I'll be getting the letter on Tuesday.

its a toss up

It's still fairly early though, right? Is the timing at this point really worth as much as a letter of recommendation? (I submitted this secondary about a week ago)

Or, is the letter really worth that little?
