Hi guys, I'm thinking about 1-3 adding more schools to my amcas. These schools all list Dec 1st (or later) as their amcas deadline, but do you really think it's even worth it anymore? Will my application, by the time they receive my completed secondaries, LORs really be fairly considered?

In addition, what is the actual protocol for adding more schools? Do you just mark them on amcas and how long before they get sent out? I'm assuming that it shouldn't take too long since there's no verification process involved this time...

Thanks!

Come on guys, help me out. I really don't know what to do here...

I say go ahead if you have the money - it can't hurt. I know people applying who still haven't gotten all their secondaries in.

It's really easy to add schools on AMCAS, just choose them like before and reverify (it'll prompt you to do this). Then you just pay again, and it's done.

I just added a school at the beginning of last week. My advisor got my LOR in within two days and I received there secondary this week even though it's a school that screens. It actually worked out well because I didn't have to wait for weeks to get it because I beat the rush

It's taking them so long to get out from under the pile of August MCATers, you probably won't be any worse off than those who submitted in mid October... Best of luck!

The moment you re-submit, if it has been previously verified it is immediately available and left up to the school to download your info. So the ball is on the school's court now. Most school make a general download on thursdays of each week. I hope that helps. 😎

I added 2 more schools a few weeks ago and received the secondaries the next day. So as long as you get them done quickly you'll be fine.

If you add, I would send you recommendations immediately, even if you haven't finished the secondaries. The recs are usually the slowest part (at least if you are working with a pre-medical committee packet that has to be sent out).

...Just make sure you finish the secondary in an extremely timely fashion. 😀
