Adding research/awards AFTER ERAS app certification

Hey so I couldn't find this specific topic so I thought I'd ask everyone...

I plan on submitting my application around Sept. 1st. However, I have a research project that MIGHT be accepted for publication and a potential award that I MIGHT get. I won't know these until like late september if I get them at all. So my quesiton is...after I submit the ERAS app and get it certified, how can I "update" the programs about any future publications/awards I get from now until the ROL is due? Since I can't edit the application after certification, would I have to email all the programs individually w/ an update????

yeah, once your submit your ERAS app, you can't edit it (besides adding a PS/swapping it out, or adding LORs).

Once you submit your application you cant change it. If your paper is published it you can tell the PD at the time of interview or send them email saying that the eras doesn't allow application changes once it is submitted hence would like to notify the program about the achievement also send them a copy of the paper or award aswell

Although it is true that you cannot add research awards, there are things you can change in your application at any time (called your profile). From the ERAS instructions:

Step 12: Keep Your Profile Up-to-Date
Information in your Profile is very important to the programs to which you have applied; and it is essential that you keep this information up-to-date. Be sure to update:
First, Middle, and Last Name
Previous Last Name
Preferred Name
Suffix
Contact E-mail
Present Mailing Address
Preferred Phone Number
Alternate Phone Number
Fax/Page/Mobile Number
SSN (this is not a required field)
SIN (this is not a required field)
Citizenship
Current Visa Status/Expected Visa Type
USMLE ID
NBOME ID
Match information including: AOA Member number/AOA Match number (for osteopathic applicants); AUA Number for Urology Programs
NRMP Match Participation Status
Couples Match Information
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
Sigma Sigma Phi Status
Alpha Omega Alpha Status
ECFMG Certification Status (for IMG‘s only)

The only thing really useful for editing is AOA/SSP status -- so if AOA gets announced after you have applied, you can change it.

I have a similar situation as the OP, and just want to get confirmation from the ERAS forum knowers-that-be on how to handle it.

A month ago on my ERAS, I described my med school research project and noted that I had submitted an abstract on it to a research meeting. Subsequently, not only was the abstract accepted, but I was also invited to give an oral presentation and selected as a finalist for a research award at said conference. Once I find out what place I came in for the award, which will be soon, my plan was to email all of the programs I applied to and update them with this information. I'm targeting academically-oriented programs, so I think most of them will be interested in knowing about this, but I just wanted to confirm that there wasn't another preferable way to update them instead of sending out an email.

You are correct, there best way is via email.
