So I'm applying this cycle, preferably in the next week or so. My main problem with my application is that my ECs are pretty weak. It was mainly due to my school being in the middle of farm land with no car for a while. I have since gotten a car and am now much more involved and want to be more so going forward. So basically I was wondering how schools look at adding on extra curriculars mid-cycle. Do they take them into consideration as much so as one's prior to applying? Also will it make it look like I'm just cramming them in to make myself look better? (It's partially this but I genuinely do enjoy doing volunteering and the like so it was frustrating to not be able to do much on my campus.)

1) You can't change your ECs after you submit. The best you can do is send an update letter to schools telling them what's changed about your application.

2) If you feel your application is weak, wait another year before applying. Trust me, you do not want to go through this process twice.

3) If you do choose to apply, just make sure the adcoms are aware of the limited availability of ECs for you. They are human too, you know.
