Until I saw this, I was going to suggest it was because cortisol causes hypocalcemia (and thus osteoporosis) by decreasing Ca intestinal absorption. So lack of cortisol --> increase in Ca intestinal absorption --> possible swing to hypercalcemia.

Yup my thought process was similar to yours. It's kind of odd that it would cause hypercalcemia. Harrison's is probably correct.
Kind of like thalasemmia but in that you don't have really high iron levels. It's usually normal. Unless you foolishly give iron and induce fenton rxn.
