Hi, I am applying for a PICU fellowship. I recently got a letter from one of the programs asking for a short statement describing why I chose that particular program and what research I would like to do during the fellowship. Has anyone had experience with something like this and do you have any thoughts on how best to respond to it? Thanks.

Sounds like they’re interested in you. I would respond by telling them why you’re interested in their particular program and what specific research interests you have….

You should definitely respond to it if you have any interest in the program but I could also see this being fluff they send all applicants.
Agree this probably weeding out people who are applying everywhere but may not be that interested in that particular program.
