I'm currently working on submitting Jefferson's secondary application and definitely stumped by the 500 character optional essay asking if I have any additional information I'd like to provide.
I recently submitted by AMCAS so I haven't done anything else significant that isn't already listed on my primary application.
I also don't have any bad grades/test scores or anything I feel like I need to explain.
I've also heard from several sources the school does not want a "why Jefferson" essay, which would be difficult to do in 500 characters anyway.
So the logical thing would be to just leave it blank, right?
I'm really hesitant to do so, however, since they get so many applications every year, IMO, the majority of which are from people who are not particularly interested in actually attending the school but simply apply because Jefferson's average stats tend to be lower, so it's a "what the hell, might as well give it a shot" type thing.
I'm definitely super interested in attending Jefferson, however, so I don't want to do anything to make it seem like I didn't put much thought into the application/don't really care.
I have quite a few friends who live in Philadelphia and I've visited the city several times. My fiance's family is also from Philly, so if I were to attend Jefferson, I'd have an excellent support system in place.
Is mentioning anything along those lines generally considered a horrible idea?
Any ideas of what else I could write with just 500 characters, or should I just suck it up and leave it blank?
Thanks!
