Additional Loans above COA

Has anyone taken private loans above and beyond the school's estimated cost of attendance??

If you have, please describe your experience and legalities of this as you understand it. I am in that situation and could really use some input.

That's an excellent question. I am preparing for next year and I am curious how much money is available to borrow. It seems to me that gov. loans are estimated through the school and are awarded accordingly without excess. However, outside/private loans would only depend on your credit history.
