I am currently on 4 waitlists... do you think sending an additional LOR from a PI would be helpful? thanks

It would help because it would show your interest, but also make sure to send in update letters and LOIs if schools are receptive to them.

This is a good point. Your letters should really be quality letters. Some schools are quite receptive to LOI, so that may be something you want to consider. LOI can be rather helpful when it comes to waitlist movement.
