Hi all,

I watched Chad's video then tried doing Test 1 in the Math Destroyer but got killed. I felt like a lot of the material wasn't covered in the videos. What materials did you use to review for QR?

Like Chad's videos are the go-to for GC and OC, are there techniques that are the go-to for the PAT? If so, what are they? I looked at Bootcamp's study guide and they've been pretty helpful but I'd like to do better.

I feel like Bootcamp's videos are good introductions for the PAT. You can look up additional tutorials/techniques on youtube by using a general search for PAT. I would also advise you look at previous DAT breakdowns, some SDNers are kind enough to list their secrets on destroying the PAT. However, most of the skills developed on PAT are due the sheer amount of practice committed. Remember, practice makes perfect!

Take detailed notes on Chad's QR videos. They will be the foundation to help you advance to Destroyer. As for PAT, youtube each subsection of the exam. There are tons of great tutorials. Practice makes perfect.

The thing with PAT is just to do the most practice possible. Even if you're getting 50% wrong, just keep practicing and learning.

I found some good PAT videos online and they did help, especially with hole punching 🙂 Thank you.

Adding on,
Did anyone follow Ari's 10 week study guide? I have about 7 weeks to study and expect to focus solely on practicing problems starting next Monday. (I am focusing on doing a final review on GC, OC, QR, Bio content this week). If I follow Ari's study guide consistently, I should finish 2 weeks ahead of schedule which would give me two weeks to review some more. (I am starting ~Day 30 since I am almost done reviewing).

The study guide suggests doing untimed BC practice tests early on and doing a bunch of sections together at the end to simulate the exam. Wouldn't that lead to memorization of answers? Does it make sense for me to just dive into the Destroyer next Monday and do the BC practice tests a few times before the exam? In that case, my score predictions might be more accurate.

I find doing untimed BC practice tests early actually help you solidified your understanding of topics. It also helps identify clear weaknesses in your knowledge of specific sections (ie. taxonomy or molecular biology). The memorization of answers is merely a matter of choice, you can choose to remember what the right answer is or understand WHY that answer is correct. Your score predictions are a good estimate to how well you will do on the actual DAT but be careful to not jump to conclusions. There are many breakdowns w/ people having average scores in BC but nonetheless do amazing on the actual DAT.

DAT Achiever has very challenging PAT questions that will prepare you for the worst. The TFE solution is especially helpful with both the 2&3D features that you can easily maneuver.

Some of the free online lectures by MIT are very informative and resourceful too. Just browse through the topics you need help with and be selective with what you watch.
