Hello all,

So I thought that when I selected the dental schools I wanted to apply to that was included in the price when I selected my DAT date... I think it was $320.

Now I'm looking at the "ADEA AADSAS Processing Fee Table" and it appears as though I was wrong. Now I'm supposed to pay another $1800+ to process them?

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong..

Thanks for your help,

Matthew

I wish I could tell you that you were wrong. But it's true. This is a different fee than the fee when you selected schools for DAT scores. You're dropping $235 for the first and $75 per school for the rest. Expect some schools to want another fee. It's insane but it's part of the process.

Before you pay, double check your list of schools. Make sure there aren't any on there that just aren't real options so your $75 isn't wasted. I know you've probably done your homework already, but take a second glance and even run it by people on the forums if you'd like. It could save you a couple of bucks.

On the ADEA booklet it says some fees for PRIMARY application to be lower, like OU has +$68...is that $75+$68+secondary fee?!

That's correct. Almost all schools go through AADSAS which carries that same initial fee per school.

Some schools have a secondary fee. While some ask for supplemental information in addition to that fee (another application, forms, etc), some just want the fee to process your application once they receive it.

If OU is Oklahoma, they appear to have a fee with their secondary application request. Details/link to application are here:

Wow this is a huge blow. I really thought I knew everything there was to know about the dental school application cycle. Now with this it really is going to hinder my chances since I haven't been saving for this. I might be able to apply to 5 schools but not the 25+ I was originally going for. Now I'm on craigslist seeing how much I can sell my car for... Wow I need a drink.

I appreciate the help,
