Hello.
So I have an interview for an OTD school called Mary Baldwin University in Staunton, VA. Anyone who has applied or goes there have any tips or questions so that I can start practicing? Im super nervous and my interview is february 10th
I have already put my deposit down there for the class of 2020! I interviewed in early November, and it feels like forever ago honestly...
You will have 2 interviews with different faculty/staff of the program either at the beginning or end of the day depending on what group you're in (I think you just randomly get split up). I hated hearing it from my friend who was already in the program because it stressed me out more but just be yourself! Keep reminding yourself that you are qualified to be accepted and that you're talking to people who genuinely want you to succeed.
As far as specific questions, it's probably not worth preparing any. Google med school or OT school interview questions and work on the ones that you don't have an immediate answer to. Be ready to think outside of the box, and be able to really explain why you want to be and OT, not just what makes you qualified to be an OT. Don't be afraid to talk about yourself, and think of which accomplishments you want to highlight.
I brought a copy of my resume to give to the interviewer in case I ran out of time to mention what I've done that applies to OT, and made sure to really focus on what I hadn't already written in my personal statement, because they've already read that. And also definitely wear a suit!! Out of about 40 people in my interview only one or two weren't wearing a suit, and it made them stick out in a negative way.
Good luck, and remember that the day is for you to get to know the school and faculty too so don't be afraid to ask questions and chat with everyone!
