I know this question gets tossed around a lot, but I need some input on my chances for admission. After being rejected and researching osteopathy for a while now, the DO route does seem very exciting and now I am starting to prefer it to MD. Anyway...after doing a lot of research and talking to students about schools, LECOM - Bradenton is currently my #1 choice. Given that I have a 3.5 overall, 3.2 science, and 25P MCAT, what are my chances of admission? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Starting to prefer it, so what you are saying is you are going DO because you couldn't get into MD. Hmmmm, at least this makes more sense than having a Lake Eerie COM in f-in Florida. What a joke. I wouldn't worry about it, there are plenty of new DO schools opening up someone has to fill those seats and you seem like a good fit.

Your grade stats seem fine. I'm not sure about the MCAT tho cuz I don't know LECOM's preferences. You also have to be prepared to answer such questions like "Why osteopathic medicine?" and "Why LECOM?" So be prepared for those questions, and if you haven't done so already, shadow a D.O. and read up on and if you can, try to observe actual OMM being done...I missed that in my shadowing experiences, and I wish I had seen OMM done firsthand...people tell me it's cool to observe. Good luck to you, and try to get your app in EARLY so that you can have the best shot at it.

your gpa is fine, might want to retake the mcat. TCOM as an avg. mcat of 28 (may be higher now) which is avg. with all Texas schools...but that is Texas, i dont know about other schools.

I like that I am going to be a DO, very exciting. I started looking at osteophathic med during college and after interviewing at TCOM (i interviewed both md and do) i actually started to prefer the DO route. Go to med school based on how you want to practice medicine, not because you THINK one might be easier to get into than the other. good luck! :luck:

Your stats are fine, I had 25 MCAT and similar overall GPA with a higher science GPA and recsived 8 interviews out of 11 schools. Still haven't heard anything from 3 othr schools, but I don't know if I'm even complete at those schools. So you should be fine.

Your numbers look pretty good; one piece of advice I will pass along is that since LECOM-FL is 100% PBL, they are looking for students with the skills to suceed in this type of curriculum. Interpersonal skills like group dynamics, communication, conflict management and leadership seemed to be scrutinized a bit more at LECOM-FL than the other schools I applied to.
