Is calling references after interviewing common? I'm so paranoid about schools contacting one of my volunteer supervisors not because I lied about anything but because I don't have a good relationship with them (inconsistence commitment and generally don't get along : /) which I don't think is inherently wrong because the experience and hours are true but I don't think they would speak well of me. If schools were to contact references would they call before or after deciding to interview? I know they don't call everyone's and every contact but this particular organization is very well known and lots of applicants come from here and they keep hinting that they get calls from schools, so would having an interview be considered safe?

I did! Would love if they called my LOR writers. Just worried about them calling this one experience supervisors which ik seems unlikely but they are a well known org in my state across schools. So if they were to call, would it be before or after interviews? just wanted to speculate

it's not likely, and it's not worth speculating about
