When exactly do we apply to podiatry schools? If I were on pace to finish college in 4 years and want to attend podiatry school right after when do I send in my application and MCAT scores? Also, when is the ideal time to take the MCAT?

If you were, for example applying to enter in 2013, you can apply anywhere from august 2012 till like june 2013. I suggest applying before April though.

Ideally try to take the mcat the summer before you're applying if possible.

Thank you. So if I were to graduate in the spring of 2015 and plan to attend podiatry school in the fall, If I want to take the MCAT multiple times should I begin with taking one in the winter of 2013/2014 and then another during spring or summer? Also, how long do MCAT scores take to see the results?

I would say spring of '14 at the earliest, but by no means do you have to take it then. Plain and simple, take it when you are cometely ready so you don't have to take it multiple times, as it is a long and expensive test to take.

My advice is that you shouldn't go into the MCAT with the mindset that you'll be taking it multiple times. Prep for it seriously, take it once, get a good score, and be done with it forever.

Good luck!

Thanks. Do you know how long it takes for results to be seen?

Got a couple things, but I don't sound like an arrogant POS, I am just being serious.

So you are currently a Sophomore in undergrad. When I was in my Spring semester of my Sophomore yr I thought I was going to graduate in 4yrs too. Then my advisor told me that my major at my honors college inside MSU required much more credits than expected. My issue was that they also added one class to my major. And they told us to take an elective class Freshmen year. Those 6 cred of elective classes are now the reason I will be a 4.5 yr student. I like your ambition to graduate in 4yrs, but when you are JUST entering your 4th semester in college it may sometimes be hard to determine if you will graduate in 4 years. I know people who their Freshmen year took classes I took my Sophomore year and I am gonna graduate at the same time or even earlier than they will. I just don't want you to get let down bud b/c the system sometimes fails. Take some summer courses, I didn't and that also screwed me.

Second, if you begin with the mentality that you will need to take the MCAT twice you may have a problem before it starts. Don't have that mentality at all! I am not a fan of taking the MCAT during the winter. I hear people talk about doing that but then I am confused. Why would you take the MCAT during January or February? Spend all of November and the first two weeks of December studying for your actual classes and finals. And then what, your entire 3week Winter Break you cram for the MCAT. Come back to class and first two weeks back assume you have an easy load and study for the MCAT. And that is just assuming! Taking it in a month like February while you are currently enrolled at college sounds idiotic if you ask me. You will fall behind in one of the two (either MCAT or classes) and the one that drops will hurt you.

And especially for your time table, taking it during the Winter of your Junior year. You may not be well prepared for all the stuff. Maybe you haven't taken Biochem yet and you have to study all that while taking all your classes. I would think about just taking it during the summer between your Jr and Sr year

Thanks for your insight. Yes I am taking summer classes. How hard is it to score a 25 on the MCAT?

If the basic bio/chem/ochem/physics classes are fresh in memory, then it is not too difficult. Of course, regardless of preparation styles, practice tests are a must to see how the actual MCAT is like.

Also, it is like a part-time job. It needs commitment every single day, and the test needs to be taken seriously, so any so-called 'cramming' is really not worth it in the long run. Personally, I had plenty of time to study, but I have known people with many classes/jobs that spent their time well also.

Is it possible if someone could help me out with the Personal Statement(PS). I am wondering what pod schools are looking for. What others have written in the past. Also if there are any phrases that I shouldn't include or include.

Thanks in advance.
