i don't know why these stats seem so much lower than what I am seeing on SDN...

because the stats on that website are 3 cycles old. the dentistry secret is out and you can expect this application cycle to be much more competitive than 3 years ago. in fact, one admissions member told me in private that this year's applicant pool is the most competitive that she has ever seen!

syn's right on. Talk to any school, they'll tell you they've got twice as many applicants as this time last year. The number of people applying to dental school was pretty stable three years ago, and every year since then it's gone up like 20%. That jump really influences the way adcoms look at files and how quickly the office gets back to you. Guess everyone found out the real money's in dentistry...

The stats are at least, somewhat flawed.... I know for a FACT UFCD recived over 1100 applicants last year (the stats pages says 600 something).

I go to school at UF, I work at the dental school, and was told this by a dentist on the admissions committee.

I don't know much but I know this.
