advanced residency training

Would a program similar to that like Stanford's be useful for one hoping to work as an academic physician in radonc? Why would someone pursue/not pursue such options? I know UCLA and Yale have similar programs.

UTHSCSA has a residency + PhD program for rads/radonc with a PhD in medical physics, imaging, or radiobiology.
