Advanced Standing for D3

Hey all. I'm currently a D1 at NYU. Originally from Quebec. Anyone know which Canadian dental schools accept advanced standing transfers for D3 and how competitive it is? When the time comes I'm going to do my research but I was just wondering if anyone (particularly canadians) had any experience or insight on this. Thanks

Check out Mcgill; they accept transfer students in D2.

Why D3? I know many Canadian schools accept transfers into D2 (space permitting) but I've never heard of a transfer to D3. Also, that's one more year of paying NYU prices.

Yes I just very recently discovered I was misinformed and that if you wish to transfer it is after the 1st year and not the 2nd. Needless to say I was thrilled to find out that I was mixed up on the matter. McGill would be my #1 choice as I am from Montreal and I did my Masters in dental science there. Do you have any additional info on the process? Thanks!

Sorry, no more info here since I haven't known anyone who went through this. All I know is that transfer students will compete with foreign trained dentist for 2 spots at McGill (usually). Also you should expect to lose one year in the process because you will join in January of the second year. But it's worth it IMO, as the tuition is ridiculously low and Montreal is so f*&$ing awesome.

why would i lose 1 year? i finish my D1 here at NYU at the end of may then i have june off. Start D2 in july. im a bit confused..i would have to start D2 at NYU and leave halfway to begin at mcgill in january? nice avatar btw. GHG!

FTD's apply in January and interview in May for admission in the following January. That's why I assumed the same for transfer students, but I may be wrong. I would give them a call to make sure👍
