Are there advantages joining ASA as a medical student?

Most definitely...for $10/year (orders of magnitude less than attendings pay) you get a subscription to Anesthesiology and the monthly ASA newsletter to keep you up to date on the most important issues facing anesthesiology. You also can register for the ASA conference for free (in Chicago next fall, I believe). Perhaps most importantly, you get to join the group that is working to secure the future for anesthesiologists by ensuring that patients are always taken care of in the most safe and responsible manner. What could be better than that?

Is there free punch and pie?????

Oh yeah, tons of free punch and pie....they mail you a new pie every week, and their punch recipe is to die for.

VIVE LA RÉSISTANCE!

Also, you can get in on the action of the new Medical Student Component. It was founded about two years ago in Las Vegas during the ASA mtng. There are great opportunities for leadership positions on a national level and you get to put your foot in the door a little early, so to speak. A call for applications will be going out shortly for those interrested in these positions.
The ASA mtng offers plenty of workshops and lectures, but very little in the way of stuff totally directed to us as a group. We are currently working on having activities tied to the resident component right now. More info will be available soon.
Overall, my membership in the ASA so far has been very beneficial. It has introduced me to people I would never have met otherwise and it has also helped me become established at my state society as well.

I cant seem to find the link for the student application form. Does anyone have it handy? Sweet deal. Thanks.
