How does medical school admissions committee view overcoming personal issues, like performance anxiety, eating disorder, depression, etc. Is it a dangerous area to write or is it potentially helpful, when those issues have had a direct impact on academic performance?

To be frank, I feel this issues are possibly the hardest to overcome, but it is an intangible thing.

Potential risks are much bigger than reward.

I use a personal anecdote...but I am the example as to why this is controversial.

It's doable IF you have a prolonged period of academic excellence. Be forewarned that medical can break even healthy people.

It would be potentially dangerous to mention these problems if you can't demonstrate recent excellent academics and a full plate of extracurriculars to prove your contention that these issues have been overcome.

The good thing is that after undergrad, I did do a Master's Program that did fare well academically and went ahead to bolster my extracurricular.
