Man that is a tough score. You might have to retake because of PAT. You basically missed 30-40 PAT to get a 16 (I believe this is correct). If I were you I would retake, your AA is less than a 19 and your PAT is less that a 17, which is a cut off at some schools.PAT 16

When I say "tough", I mean that single point that moves you from average to almost unacceptable because of cutoffs. My friend had a 20AA and they still rejected him for 3 years because of his 16 on the PAT(being one of the reason). Its not a sure retake, but I honestly think you can do much better and not worry about your DAT score. Your BIO is also weak but at least it meets the minimum. You should call the schools you are interested in and ask them what they think about your PAT score; that is my best advice.explain "tough"
I watched one of the videos from Chad's site from one of the students interviewing Pen. dental school (I believe something like that) on how they evaluated the admission. As long as you are able to get an interview, you are in equal footing as other applicants. I believed the interviewers will not have accessed to your GPA or DAT scores because that way will affect the interviewers' prejudice toward the low scorers. However, they will have their hands on extracurricular, experiences, volunteers.......
So yes, if you do get an interview, you are half way there. Do well in the interview. Grasp up some experiences....
This is a very good post; its probably worth 14 centsNot trying to hijack a thread here but the interviewers do indeed have your full application including GPA and DAT scores. Most school have 'open' folder interviews where they can literally ask you about anything. If you venture into the interview feedback portion of SDN you will find this to be true. A lot of questions were asked such as "explain your poor sGPA," or "you are a biology major...can you detail why you scored an 18 in this section?" Some schools have student interviews where upper dental students will ask questions in a closed folder manner to see how you fit within the other students. But you should be ready to answer questions about ANYTHING!!
Also, not to jump on ya Hope30, but I would think all interviewees are not judged as equals in the interviews. Just because you got an interview does not mean that the past scores are thrown out the window and everyone is level again. Everyone who IS there they might accept given a good interview. The interview is usually about 50% of the process...so they pair this new 'score' with your old stats to then send out acceptances. So yes, a person with a 18AA and an awesome interview can get in over someone with a 22AA who bombs the meet and greet. But they take everything into account after the interviews to make a final decision...
Just my 2 cents...

Nice! Anyone else?I'll chip in a few pennies. It's worth 17 cents.
Nice! Anyone else?
Sure, I charge 80000% interest; its a small fee after you get out of dental school.Im broke after submitting my application today, may I have some of your monies?
The PAT is such a BS section. How is it an "ability" if it's practiced to death by many applicants that have developed tricks/techniques to exploit the testing tool so that they DONT have to use perceptual ability.
The only way the PAT would be representative of perceptual ability would be if no one had access to the method or testing tools prior to taking the DAT.
If it is mearly a testing skill that can be picked up in 1.5 wks with CDP software... I dont really see the value in it.
Perhaps dental schools know this and they are testing to see who can pick it up in those weeks of studying. Sorta like having to learn dental techniques in actual courses???
Confused... are we talking about techniques or perceptual ability? yeah....
