my stats: probably 2.54 overall,
2.2 from CC
2.89 USF
2.6 science gpa

I'm 22 years old, run an online website business, do big brother mentoring in the area and I'm 1000 miles from home.

I want to be closer to home and applying to transfer to either VCU or UMD.

I'm 17 credits away from graduating, basically two semesters, ochem lab1 and ochem lab 2 is what i need to take,

next fall im taking biochem, and one more bio elective with 2 exit courses that USF (south florida) required for me to graduate with a biomedical science degree and public health minor.

my question.. am I an idiot for thinking of transferring back to Va? At VCU I'd be getting a Bio major and UMD I would want to get a cell bio major.

what should I do? I'm talking to my advisor on Thursday about it but would like to get some insight from others if possible form this forum. I am getting so stressed out.. I took too many credits this semester (18) and I wish I talked to an advisor before picking classes these last 2 years. From now on I'm talking to everyone I should including advisors before I make any move.

The reason I want to transfer is because i want to be closer to home AND i feel like this is a chance to extend my graduation to work on my GPA. I'm afraid I will not be able to get into any post bacc program with my low gpa that I have now.

Any advise?

bump,

anyone have a list of post bacc programs that might consider me?

The reason I feel as if I should stay in Tampa is because I can automatically get into the post bacc program here.. its not formal, but after 20-30 credits they give me a second degree in biology or microbiology

any advise?

If I were you, I would try to tough it out at USF. I understand you may want to go back to VA-MD region, but it could be beneficial to stay there and get into their post-bacc. After you finish your post-bacc, you may be able to apply...if not, there are MBS degrees at the USF med school I would consider. These are loaded with science classes to bring up your GPA.

I think VCU has a post-bacc/ Master's degree you could look into as well

Good luck!
