Hi all, I've come a long way from where I was the last time I've posted on this board. It's been an immense journey and I can truthfully say that I've stuck to my goal all the while. In the past I had doubts about whether I truly wanted to be a doctor. During the time that's elapsed the desire to be a doctor has become increasingly impressed upon my soul.

I'll be wrapping up with my undergraduate degree within three semesters. It's been a spotty history which can largely be attributed to financial issues that are now well sorted. I'm currently on the way to graduating with a ~3.80 mGPA and a 2.70 sGPA. I'm looking to improve my pre-requisite grades, but want to mitigate as much struggle as possible going forward. Should I become a super(duper) senior and retake the med prereqs? Should I apply to post-bacc programs? What option would be better received by acceptance committees? Any constructive criticism and/or advice would be largely appreciated.

It's generally not a good idea to re-take prereqs unless it's a C-

Unfortunately, a lot of schools pre-screen sGPAs below 3.0. Fit in as many upper level science courses in your last 3 semesters. I recommend taking courses that are similar to those offered in medical school: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry (with lab component is possible), immunology, cancer biology, cell biology, etc.

If your sGPA is still below 3.0 by the time you graduate, then defer your graduation and continue to take upper level science courses. Being a matriculated degree-seeking super senior will give you priority when class registration starts (and perhaps some financial benefits as opposed to a non-degree student).
