Okay so I've spent 5 years in a Community College (3 years as a music major and then switched to Psychology). I'm transferring next Fall to a private Psychology cohort program to receive my B.S. in two years. The problem I'm having is that I haven't taken any pre-med courses yet (The only Bio class I've taken is Human Bio and there was no lab). The state budget cuts here in California are making it almost impossible to plan any sort of timeline for pre-med courses at a Community College. I was wondering what would be a better plan of action;
1) Take 1 pre-med course every semester on top of the psych classes and take 1-2 pre-med courses in the summer semesters and then finish pre-med after I get my bachelor's degree.
or
2) Wait on the pre-med courses until I'm completley done with my undergrad and do a past-bacc program.
The problem I have with putting off the pre-med courses completley is that I'm almost 23. Now although I did switch majors and granted it took me 4 1/2 years of college to decide to get into pre-med...I don't want to keep putting off my future and not be able to apply for med school/MCAT for years and years. I'm looking at 2 more years of undergrad, all my pre-med courses and studying for/taking the MCAT. Am I being too optimistic in thinking that I could be at med school by the Fall of 2013?
Any help would be greatley appreciated. I am a resident of California and plan on applying to all CA and OR schools (osteopathic included).
