Advice for Applying

I need some advice on what should I do and if I have a chance of getting into DO School. I like the DO Profession but do not know if I can get in. I have a high GPA of around 3.9 and have good EC activities like volunteer work and shadowing. The only problem I will run into is with my MCAT Scores My total is 23L Phys-9 Biol-9 Verbal-5 Writing-L. Do I have a chance and if I do where do you think I should apply? I cannot retake the MCAT this August because I had surgury last week on my leg and I will not be prepared for the August MCAT. Please Help! 🙂

LECOM accepts like 200 some odd students and the average MCAT there is 23. Your only low score is in verbal. I think you obviously can read fine b/c the PS and BS were largely deriving info from reading then applying the principles.

I think you would have a good shot there anyway.

That GPA might compensate for your low MCAT score... so I would try applying to all the schools that you think you would like to go to. Make sure you apply to more then a handful then.. I would apply to most all of them just to be on the safe side.

That GPA will probably offset those scores, but be prepared to explain such a wide difference between your scores and your GPA. Definately apply, and ASAP.

Go for it and apply to many as others said. I would rather pay money than lose a year.

Yeah, I agree. I have sort of the same dilemma; 3.75 GPA but 24N mcat. I am applying but am planning on retaking the MCAT in April 2006 if I haven't heard from any of the schools by then. My attitude is, why not? You'll never know unless you try.

you should be fine. what was your score break down? was it close to all 8's?
